
Finding Out Which Controller Is Hosting a Volume
Control of a volume can move from one metadata controller to another as a result of
controller failover. You can use Xsan Admin to find out which controller is hosting a
volume.

the volume
To view a volume’s controller:
In Xsan Admin, select Volumes in the SAN Assets list and look in the Hosted By column.

From the Command Line
You can also find out which controller is hosting a volume by using the
cvadmin
command in Terminal. Open Terminal on the controller and enter:
$ sudo cvadmin -e select
